Sherry lives across the street from Memorial Park, but she did not buy her home to be close to the trail. In fact, besides the occasional 5K she ran as a child, she had not run in many years. She says she would often see people running at the Park in all kinds of weather (even DURING Hurricane Ike) and wonder why they were there. Did they really want or need to run that bad? Then, Sherry saw a flyer for the Runners High Club and their Houston Marathon training program. She decided to see what all of the hype was about, but when she started she could not complete a lap around the Park without stopping. She immediately became hooked and has now completed nine marathons. She says she loves the diversity that is seen at Memorial Park. The fact that it's in her front yard is icing on the cake; she does not have any excuses...well, maybe she should stay home if there is a hurricane!
